For as cool and thriving as Louisville’s culinary scene is, we’ve lacked something pretty key, says The Courier Journal. Cities like Cincinnati, Detroit, Cleveland, and lots more have fantastic public markets that not only offer locals a place to find regional goods but provide a draw to visitors as well, but Louisville does not.

Markets are prime tourist destinations when they visit a new city, and for good reason! They can get a taste of the city’s culinary expertise all under one roof. We know that in Louisville, food is something we do best, so it’s long past time we had a market such as this.

After over a year of work and planning, the Logan Street Market is slowly coming to life at, 1001 Logan St., in Shelby Park.

The market was originally scheduled to open during summer 2018, but then the date was moved back. It’s is on track to finally open in the late spring or early summer. We can’t wait, and our residents will love to enjoy it on a regular basis!

Hammerheads is the flagship of chefs Chase Mucerino and Adam Burress. This contemporary gastropub/smokehouse prides itself on some of the best food that the city has to offer and if you’ve never been, you HAVE to try it. Our residents will be able to enjoy Hammerheads whenever their heart desires to get a bit of the Pork Belly BLT, Truffle Fries or Baby back ribs. I’m getting hungry just talking about it!

4. Edierdown

Eiderdown serves up Southern cuisine with a European twist. They focus on German-American delights, and there is no better place for them than in the heart of Germantown! This is the spot for schnitzel, german beer, or pretzels and beer cheese! You have to make this a regular stop if you’re a resident of East Kentucky Street Lofts.

5. Zanzabar

Zanzabar, which opened its doors originally in 1938, has continued to attract and entertain local residents ever since. It’s one of Louisville’s oldest gems, and a pillar of Germantown. It’s a top notch casual cuisine and live entertainment destination. Zanzabar offers up Louisville’s only vintage arcade and hosts weekly pinball tournaments. Sunday trivia nights are a must, and Zbar also serves as an award-winning, intimate live-music venue for both local and popular national and international touring acts, which grace the stage many nights every single week. Zanzabar food is incredible and their heated patio is great for winter or summer outings with friends!

Conclusion: Germantown is AWESOME.
